Machida - Do Karate For MMA

Machida - Do Karate For MMA

Lyoto Machida, son of karate master Yoshizo Machida, is one of the top-ranked mixed martial arts competitors in the world. After earning his karate black belt at thirteen, he mastered a number of other martial arts disciplines, including sumo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Combining techniques from the various disciplines to form an unorthodox and highly effective fighting style, Machida took the martial arts world by storm, defeating legendary mixed martial artists such as BJ Penn, Rich Franklin, and Tito Ortiz. Now, for the first time, Machida divulges the secrets to his revolutionary fighting system. Whether youï're new to the martial arts or an experienced fighter, Machida-do is for you. Detailing everything from stance to complex combinations to elaborate counterattacks to intricate ground fighting tactics, Machida has left no stone unturned. In Machida-Do, Lyoto Machida shares the fighting system that elevated him to the top of the MMA mountain.

In DVD1, Movement and Fundamental Strikes, Machida breaks down the foundation of his fighting system through descriptive narrative, multiple camera angles, and slow motion sequences. In the movement section, he teaches everything from basic footwork to complex pivot turns, and then demonstrates how these movements can be used for both offense and defense. In the striking section, he teaches you how to throw vicious punches, devastating kicks, ruthless elbow strikes, and brutal knee strikes on both the pads and an opponent. He also details the range, target, timing, and proper angle of entry for each strike. With these unique movements and strikes being the foundation of the Machida-Do system, this DVD is a must have for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

In DVD 2, Striking Attacks and Takedowns, Machida teaches you how to blend footwork with various strikes to form complex combinations. He demonstrates how to break your opponents guard using hand-tapping techniques, utilize the low-high principle to land a larger percentage of your strikes, combine punches, kicks, elbows, and knees into a single combination, and setup takedowns such as sweeps and trips using striking and feints. In addition to the core techniques, he offers combinations you can practice on the focus mitts and Thai pads. If your goal is to develop aggressive combinations that can overwhelm any opponent, this DVD is for you.

Chen-style Taiji Push-hands

Chen-style Taiji Push-hands

Push-hand is a kind of Wushu exercise in which two partners twine each other's hands to train their tactile and quickness in response. While practicing, the exerciser should comply with some basic Taiji principles such as sticking to each other without being separated, moving freely and flexibly, neither separating nor making forcible contact, rotating the body smoothly, making good use of the skill rather than only the force and staying clear of the opponent main force and striking at his weak points. Combining the basic techniques of grasp, catch, kick, jackknife and punch, the exercisers practice warding off, deflecting, pushing, pressing trampling, throwing, elbowing and leaning to obtain a sensitivity of knowing the enemy intention in advance and making quick decision of how and where to attack or defend.

The Self Defence Training System (Damian Ross)

The Self Defence Training System (Damian Ross)

The Self Defense Training System (SDTS) Combatives uses principles of close combat that have been proven over many decades of actual warfare. The number one principle of the SDTS is offensive, aggressive and ruthless attack, not a defensive mindset. The SDTS is not a martial arts system; it is a system of realistic and effective close combat based on proven methods that will allow you to gain the tactical advantage as fast as possible using whatever means possible. This includes unarmed techniques, knife fighting, club and other impact and edged weapons. The purpose of the SDTS Combatives is to save lives.

Our goal with the Self Defense Training System is to disseminate knowledge to those people who wish to have real, lifesaving fighting skills. Improvised Weapons of Opportunity

Improvised Weapons of Opportunity

In this final part in the Secondary Tools series, we take an updated look into the use of improvised weapons. The two primary areas of concern here are said tools for personal carry and weapons of opportunity. Here we are looking at this subject from the carry law perspective in the United Kingdom - where of course, unlike other parts of Europe and the rest of the world, we are NOT allowed to carry any item of any kind even remotely construed as a 'weapon'. Hence our principle of 'going armed' must remain a secondary option here. In this program we take an updated view of improvised tools, looking at some of the latest purpose built KIT on the market for Self Protection, along with other simple carry options and useful tools to hand. We take an in-depth look at the pros and cons of impact tools compared to point and edge items. We also look at the 'Force to Threat Parallel' along with the possible consequences of employing such KIT. The message here is that IMPACT is always going to be the more clinical option - and just anything in your hand is most certainly NOT better than nothing. Good advice and excellent scenario training drills make this program a great final addition to the Secondary Tools series.
